Switch from Dropbox to pCloud

🇨🇭 pCloud, SwitzerlandLittle effortAbout 20 minutes of work. The copy runs by itself and depends on how much you storeChecked 25 September 2026

pCloud can copy your files straight from Dropbox. You start the backup in pCloud, check the result, move shared folders and links over and then delete your Dropbox account.

Good to know

  • The copy from Dropbox is a one-time backup. It can run once every 28 days, so do it when you are ready to switch.
  • Deleting a Dropbox account cannot be undone: files in private folders are gone for good.
  • Menu names are given as the official help pages name them. They can differ slightly depending on app version and language.

Steps

  1. Create a pCloud account

Sign up at pCloud and make sure your plan has enough storage for everything in your Dropbox.

  2. Copy your files from Dropbox

In pCloud on the web, go to Backups > Third-party, choose Dropbox and click Start. Connect your Dropbox account and allow access. In the Android app, the same option is under Settings > Backups > Third-party backups. The files land in a new dated folder in pCloud.

  3. Check the copy

Compare a few folders in pCloud with Dropbox. If something is missing, download it on dropbox.com: tick the file or folder and click Download. Folders can only be downloaded there if they are smaller than 250 GB and hold fewer than 10,000 files, for bigger ones Dropbox recommends its desktop app.

  4. Move shared folders and links

Links you shared from Dropbox stop working once the account is gone. Share the folders again from pCloud and send the new links to the people who need them.

  5. Install pCloud on your devices

Install the pCloud apps on your computer and phone, then uninstall the Dropbox app.

  6. Delete your Dropbox account

Log in on dropbox.com, open your account settings and click Delete account at the bottom of the General tab. If you have a paid plan, Dropbox asks you to cancel it first. Your files are deleted from Dropbox's servers and cannot be recovered.
