Switch from Google Search to Ecosia
Ecosia is a search engine from Germany. You make it the default search in your browsers and on your phone, and delete the search history Google has stored.
Good to know
- Chrome only lists the most common search engines in your country. If Ecosia is missing there, the Ecosia extension sets it up for you.
- Menu names are given as the official help pages name them. They can differ slightly depending on app version and language.
Steps
Chrome
Open the three-dot menu > Settings > Search engine, click Change, choose Ecosia and set it as default. Alternatively install the Ecosia extension from the Chrome Web Store, which sets both search engine and homepage.
